Planning your Christmas wedding can be easier than a wedding art any other time of the year, in that your color scheme and decorations are almost pre-determined.
However there are also some unique problems that must be handled.
First you should notify the family and friends who mean the most to you, of your plans, since many people have several commitments at that time of year and you want your wedding to be top on their lists. A four to six months notice is not unreasonable.
Check well in advance with your church/ceremony site and the place you want to hold your reception.
Both of these places are often booked up to a year in advance, especially for the winter holidays. Once you have confirmed your ceremony and reception sites, you can look for your gown, a caterer, photographer and baker. If your ceremony will occur in a church, it may already be decorated with poinsettias, red bows, wreaths, garlands and lights and candles.
Your invitations can have snowflakes wreaths and other seasonal designs of the season. However you don’t want them to look like holiday cards. Don’t forget to get them in the mail four to six months before the event. When it comes to your cake you could have each tier decorated to look like wrapped gifts. A Yule Log decorated with marzipan holly would also be a unique wedding cake. To apply the Christmas theme to your dress you could wear a long red cape over a traditional white gown. Another option would be to wear a red dress with a white or brown fur shrug and muff
Flowers can be expensive at this time of year, but there are ways to save money here. You can use potted real or silk poinsettias as table decorations.
Another idea is to buy ornaments in bulk and place vases and bowls of ornaments on the tables in lieu of flowers.Poinsettias with baby’s-breath, and holly in your bouquet will add a touch of magic to your wedding. Feel free to use any of these tips to help with your Christmas wedding planning.
