Church Wedding Etiquette

About Church Wedding Etiquette

If you are planning your wedding at a church, there are some important wedding etiquette rules you should follow.

The first thing you need to keep in mind about church weddings is that the bride should not see the groom before the wedding. If the church has a room for the wedding parties, the bride should stay in her room and the groom usually mingles with the family and his side of the wedding party.

It is also important that the reception be more traditional because you are having a church wedding. Before you select a date, you should talk to the church official to find an open date.

Ushers are another important part of the wedding etiquette. Seat your guests is up to the ushers and they will seat the brides guests on one side of the church and the grooms friends and family on the other side of the church. The mother of the groom is walked down the isle and then the groom's mother is walked down the isle with the father of the groom.

This is done right before the ceremony is really to begin. If there is a candle lighting before the service, the mother's of the bride and groom will do this right before the ceremony.

After the ceremony, the new bride and groom will have a receiving line at the back of the church or a designated area agreed upon ahead of time.

The receiving line is proper etiquette for a church wedding. The wedding ceremony ends when the last guest has said their congratulations. Then it is picture time before the reception.

There are many things to consider when having a church wedding and if you need help with church wedding etiquette, the church director can help you or you can look on the Internet for more information.
