Wedding Seating Etiquette

About Wedding Seating Etiquette

The wedding seating etiquette is important when you are planning your wedding.

The seating at the ceremony and the seating at the reception are points that have to be addressed. When seating guests and family in the church or at the wedding ceremony anywhere, the friends and family of the bride go on the left side.

The friends and family of the groom go on the right side. The mother and fathers, grandparents and brothers and sisters sit in the front rows. The friends and other guests sit behind them. If a friend is a friend to both, they usually sit on the side with fewer guess.

Wedding seating etiquette is followed at the reception as well. At the reception, the wedding party is seated at the table in front of the room. The families of each are seated at the front tables and the other guests are at tables behind them.

It is important to set the parents of the bride and groom together. This is just another way to get them better acquainted. Most brides will prefer to set families together, but some like to mix it up a bit so that the two families can get to know each other better.

If you are panning to have a buffet, you still want to have some type of seating arrangement. In some cases, you will not want friend or family members sitting near each other. This is a common thing for wedding reception dinners. There is always one quest that needs to stay away from another, even at a wedding. If you have problems seating people, you can ask for help from the mothers.

They will know the families the best and can help you plan the seating chart. The wedding seating etiquette can be more relaxed for less traditional weddings.
